In 1956, tucked away in a little village in Somerset, God was doing something different.  In faith and obedience a small group of Bible believing Christians were constructing a building and over the door they hung the sign “Full Gospel Church”.

The events that followed were nothing less than miraculous, as people from all over the world were drawn to the little church in South Chard to be filled and equipped with the Holy Spirit and with power.

South Chard Church, as it was later called, was influential in the setting up and sustaining of many new churches around the world.  From their base they sent out many ministers to encourage the saints, preach the gospel and bring healing to many lives.

The driving force behind the church was a little man known fondly as ‘Uncle Sid’. Supported by his fantastically hospitable wife ‘Aunty Mill’, these two passionate ministers birthed and lead the church for 3 decades.  Though they are now both in glory, their faithfulness and passion for the Word can still be seen in the lives of those who were blessed by their ministry.  You can access and view some of their history by clicking on the links to the left.

In reality all the stories from that time to this could never be recorded here - you may even have some of your own.  If you do, we invite you to share them with us by clicking on ‘send your testimony’ and filling in the form that follows.

Although South Chard Church has changed in a lot of ways since those early days we recognise the importance of our history.  Our fathers and mothers before us laid a foundation of faith and truth.  They didn’t compromise - they stood for God and they lived for Jesus.  For that we are eternally grateful.
